As usual, I start the new year by looking back at all the movies I reviewed last year, complete with some ranking lists. So let's get right to it!

As usual, I'm going to rank the movies in my Jekyll and Hyde retrospective. In this case, I'm going to do two lists--one a personal ranking of how much I enjoyed the movie, and one ranking how accurate it was to the book.

This was a pretty productive year, what with both the Turner Classic Movie Film Festival and my gaining and then losing access to Filmstruck encouraging me to watch a lot of movies in a short amount of time. Given my whole "Reviews in Review" thing at the end of the year, it seemed only natural that one way I would celebrate my seventh anniversary would be to make some Top Seven lists. Seven of them, in fact.

As usual, I like to start 2017 by offering up easy access to my 2016 reviews, along with some "Best of" lists. I've also included my ranking of the A Shot in the Dark movies, just to cover my bases.

This was an interesting project, though mostly thanks to seeing the progression of the Airport franchise and watching the individual parts that eventually made up Airplane! Still, most of the movies were pretty decent, so I'm not complaining. As to whether or not you should do a project like this yourself...I think I'd recommend it if you like ( Read more... )

On the whole, I wouldn't recommend doing this project for yourselves. There's enough similarities between the movies that they start feeling repetitive very quickly, and honestly, the story itself isn't all that great. If you want to see the movie, pick one that suits your preferences (silent movies, 50's epics, etc.) and just leave it at that ( Read more... )
